Cathy James |
 |
Supervisor, Powhatan County Department of Social Services
For over 25 years it has been a privilege to serve the most vulnerable citizens in our community. Our unit specifically provides federal, state and local benefits to aged, blind and disabled individuals of all ages.
These citizens may qualify for long-term specialized services either in the home or while residing in a facility. As a product of the Powhatan community, it is my privilege to serve those in need. It is rewarding to help them to realize their needs and develop relationships through care. Many people are overwhelmed by the complex challenges they face. I count it all joy that they trust my team and me to help them identify their strengths and connect them with resources to help them overcome obstacles and provide an improved quality of life. My hobbies and interests include spending time with my family. I am a wife, mother of three adult children and grandmother of one precocious two-year-old grandson (who affectionately refers to my husband and I as Lolli&Pops)! I am the youth director of Christian Education at my church, a praise dancer, and an extensive crafter in my spare time.
