Over 10,000 Baby Boomers are retiring each day. In fact, the number of Americans aged 65 and older is projected to nearly double from 52 million in 2018 to 95 million by 2060, and the 65-and-older age group’s share of the total population will rise from 16 percent to 23 percent according to the Population Reference Bureau.

As a result of this massive growth in our older population, our national workforce is facing serious challenges as we experience a significant shortage of qualified workers who are capable of managing, supervising, and providing high-quality services and supports for older adults.

The aging services field needs engaged leaders who bring energy, creativity, and new perspectives to caring for older adults. This makes aging services a great career path with long-term prospects for continued growth and diversity in career opportunities.
